Why You Can’t Think Your Way Back Home to Yourself

Why You Can’t Think Your Way Back Home to Yourself

Over the past several weeks, we’ve explored where you might be abandoning yourself, why it develops, why choosing yourself can feel so guilty, and the difference between responsibility and self-sacrifice.

If you’ve seen yourself in the conversations we’ve been having, you’re not alone.

But there’s one more truth I want to share with you…

Awareness is where healing begins.

It is not where healing ends.

You can understand exactly why you over-give, overwork, over-function, or put everyone else’s needs ahead of your own…and still find yourself doing it today, tomorrow and the day after that.

Not because you lack discipline.

Not because you’re failing.

But because self-abandonment isn’t just something you think about and solve in your head. 🧠

It’s an unconscious habit you’ve become extremely good at that’s going to take time to unravel.

For years—sometimes decades—you’ve practiced overriding your needs, silencing your truth, and measuring your worth by what you accomplish, how much you carry, who you “should” be and so much more.

Patterns practiced over time aren’t changed by intellect and information alone.

They’re changed through growth, healing and embodiment of new practices and experiences.

Think about learning to ride a bicycle. 🚲

You could read every book ever written about balance, but until you get on the bike, your body doesn’t know, understand or learn what balance actually feels like.

Coming home to yourself works much the same way.

You don’t simply think your way into self-trust.

You practice it.

You don’t think your way into healthy boundaries.

You practice them.

You don’t think your way into Radical Wholeness.

You experience it.

A Simple Self-Reflection

To help you bring this wisdom home to your body this week, I invite you to take a few quiet minutes and ask yourself:

  • What do I already know about myself intellectually that I haven’t fully lived, embodied or become?
  • Where in my life am I waiting for one more book, one more podcast, one more course, or one more insight before giving myself permission to change?
  • What small act of self-loyalty and embodiment could I practice this week—not perfectly, but consistently?

Remember, transformation isn’t measured by what you understand.

It’s measured by what you practice, embody and become. ✨

In fact, many of the concepts we’ve explored together recently will be woven into my upcoming book, Radical Wholeness, where I’ll take you on a deeper dive into what it truly means to stop abandoning yourself and come home to who you really are.

It’s not quite ready to release to the public yet but it will be soon.  😊

In the meantime, I want to plant the seed in your mind for a very special in-person experience I’m creating for women ready to move beyond understanding their patterns and begin living in a more embodied, conscious way.

Registration for my upcoming retreat at Joyful Journey Hot Springs & Spa here in colorful Colorado the first weekend in December will be opening up soon and it will be a full-blown embodiment experience that you won’t want to miss.

Mark your calendars now! 🗓

Because sometimes the most courageous act of self-rescue isn’t about intellectualizing or learning something…

It’s about giving yourself time and a sacred space away to restore your energy, reclaim your power and remember the woman you were before the world told who you were supposed to become. 💕

In gratitude…
