Why Time Management May Not Be Working for You

Why Time Management May Not Be Working for You

Do you feel like you’re managing your time effectively?

If yes, I’d love for you to consider…

What are you doing exactly that makes you feel that way?

And if you’re not managing your time effectively not, is it because…

You feel disorganized?

You’re stretched too thin?

You’re saying yes to too many things?

You suck at prioritizing?

You feel defeated by the never-ending list of things that need to get done?

You don’t have a system that works well?

Feel free to share in the comments below what’s working & not working for you! :)

And speaking from my own personal experience in the corporate world & as a business owner, I can tell you that learning the art of time management has played a critical role in helping me feel more grounded, more effective & more confident in both my personal AND professional life!

I’ve also learned over the years that when I’m not using my time management system effectively I experience a LOT more stress, overwhelm, exhaustion, frustration & insecurity.

After all, when we’re not feeling calm & grounded our nervous system is more activated, which makes us more likely to operate from a place of disintegration & dis-ease than from a place of happiness & health.

This is one of the reasons why teaching the worn out working wonder women I work with how to effectively manage their time & their energy ends up being such a HUGE game-changer for them.

But here’s the thing…

A lot of people think that time management is designed to help you become more efficient & productive!

In reality, it’s actually not about that at all.

Instead, it’s more about how to become effective in how you manage your time & energy vs. your productivity & efficiency.

Think about it…

We ALL have a never-ending list of things to do, which means as soon as we finish a task or project there will always be another that’s going to come along & take its’ place, am I right?! :)

So, when we focus on the quantity of tasks or projects we complete each day, we’re not considering the actual QUALITY & EFFECTIVENESS of our efforts.

Over time, focusing on quantity & efficiency leads us to over-work, over-give, over-achieve & has a detrimental impact on our soul, sanity & health, even if we have a time management system in place!

So what’s the solution?

In a nutshell, stop focusing on the quantity of tasks & projects you complete each day & start focusing on the QUALITY & EFFECTIVENESS of your efforts instead.

In other words, you need to learn how to live, love, lead & work SMART (vs. hard).

And ultimately, changing the way you approach time management is what will help you become more effective (vs. efficient), a key ingredient to living a life that doesn’t drain & deplete you.  ❤

So with this in mind, I have a final question for you to consider…

Are there improvements you could make to the way you manage your time that will help you reduce the need to over-work, over-give, or over-achieve so that you can become more effective (vs. efficient)?

If yes, consider how you might put those improvements into place.

And in the meantime, if you’d like to better understand the difference between efficiency & effectiveness AND learn the secret to becoming more effective at managing your time (it’s not what you think!), simply share what’s working or not working for you personally in the comments below so I can provide you with support.
